Choosing A Paint Colour For Our New Home
Happy Wednesday!
EQ Homes allows home buyers to choose one paint colour from Sherwin Williams paint collection.
I love blue so deciding on a paint colour with blue undertones from Sherwin Williams was were I was heading. Our home will be south facing, so we will get plenty of light. I still prefer lighter walls so I finally decided on Rhinestone from Sherwin Williams. With fantastic large sized windows I think Rhinestone is the perfect backdrop for a slightly west coast feel.
I also chose a standard oak floor and we paid extra for the stain that we wanted. I wanted wider planks but it was too expensive. Our floors will provide some warmth since there is an abundance of white cabinetry and light walls.
The one negative is the hardwood manufacture that eQ Homes deals with does not provide flush vents. Well, they do but they are not manufactured finished flush vents. The cost of a vent was pretty much astronomical for them to finish and install. I think the quote was around $160.00 per vent. So, this means that Scott will be buying the vents, staining them and installing them. There is always work even if you buy a new build!

That color looks perfect! I am looking at the S.W. “whites brochure” right now. I was looking for a very pale/barely blue color for bathroom walls and I think this is it, especially after seeing your post! What colors did you use on ceiling and trim?
Thank you!
Hi KJ,
The ceiling and trim are a crisp white. The trim is Eq white, which is a white formulated for the builder. You can try Sherwin Williams Extra White which is a crisp white.

Did you end up doing the flush floor vents that need to be stained? We are considering them now… I would love to hear you experience.
Yes, we did do flush vents. We have stained flush vents in the past but buying them to match the colour of your hardwood is so much easier. I would recommend asking the flooring company of your choice if they have flush vents to match.
Hope this helps!
Hi Allison,
Scott bought flush vents at Barwood and bought the stain at Randalls in Ottawa…..
