Kitchen Crush: Two Toned Cabinets!

Happy Monday!

If you are thinking of selling then you cannot go wrong with an all-white kitchen. White is classic and fresh looking. Cool or warm white-painted cabinets can give you that look. If you are thinking of selling you can always accessorize with different colours to give your kitchen a pop of needed colour.

If you are thinking about living with your renovated kitchen for a while or even thinking about refinishing your dated oak cabinets then you may consider two-toned cabinets. Still a hot decor trend for 2018, the look is absolutely beautiful. I am working on our kitchen right now and yes, I opted for white uppers and darker lowers. I love the look and could not be happier. The kitchen still looks bright, airy and light. If we do sell, buyers would love the kitchen.

There are many combinations that work depending on style, countertops and look you want to achieve. Oak and white, navy blue and white, sage and white all look fantastic.

Take a look!

Mudrooms That Work!

Happy Wednesday!

With almost every home Scott has built a mudroom. I am happy he did. Not only do we love them but buyers love them as well. Mudrooms are not only functional but versatile as well.

Mudrooms have many benefits but let us face it the extra storage is pretty awesome. It can provide a solution for sticks, skates or other sporting equipment.

Backpacks, coats, and boots all have a place to go and everything is so much tidier. Mudrooms can work wonders for larger families as well. Each child can have their own hook and cubby.

It is also a great place to let pets sit for a bit to dry off before walking through the home. Whatever the need they work!

I am missing having an organized mudroom and I am gathering some ideas for ours. Ours will be quite small but I have to admit the more I see boots splattered across our floor the more I am dreaming of one.

Below are some fantastic mudrooms that really do the job!

A Few Statistics On Staging

Happy Friday!

I hope you are all enjoying this weather. This weather has been crazy beautiful. Are we really in March? I wanted to share with you some statistics on Staging and the effect colour can have on a property.

This survey is from the National Association Of Realtors Research Department. The survey is based on roughly 1,894 usable respondents. It is their research based on Staging statistics for 2017.

  • 77% of Buyers Agents said staging a home made it easier for a buyer to visualize the property as a future home.

There is also an impact on Buyers viewing a staged home with 40% of potential home buyers more willing to walk through a home they saw online that is staged.

Here are the statistics for rooms that are staged the most:

  • Living Room (83%)
  • Kitchen (76%)
  • Master Bedroom (69%)
  • Dining Room (66%)

Let us not forget about the impact paint can have on a property! Although Zillow (US) is based in the United States their findings can certainly relate to properties in Canada. Zillow looked at 32,000 photos from sold homes (2017) and concluded that the wrong paint colour can deter some buyers and the right paint colours can help sell for more.

Terracotta dining rooms sold for an average of $2.031 less and properties with blue bathrooms sell for roughly $5, 440 more than expected.

Have a fantastic weekend. See you Monday!

February 2018 Colour of the Month-SW Acacia Haze

Happy Wednesday!

I am practically glued to the t.v during these Winter Olympics but I know I need to start choosing a colour for our master bedroom. Sherwin Williams Acacia Haze is certainly catching my eye. Part of their Sincerity collection Acacia Haze is a beautiful green with superb depth.

If you love the colour green then this colour may be just what you are looking for. It looks perfect as a backdrop with crisp white cabinets as shown below. Soothing for a bedroom as well. Acacia Haze is soothing, cozy and definitely fun!

Dover white is a great coordinating colour for Acacia Haze as well. Take a look below at some rooms featuring this colour!

There is a mix of neutrals and more vibrant colours. I recently used Alabaster for a bathroom and it sure looks soothing. People cannot get enough of Sea Salt. I have seen it used so many times before. I have also painted a bathroom sea salt and it is a truly amazing colour. Totally beautiful for any coastal look as well.

SW Alabaster

Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2018. I am starting the new year with a new bathroom and a new wall colour called Alabaster.

Although it has been freezing cold out there this basic builder bathroom exudes warmth. The bathroom is in progress but I cannot wait!

Alabaster SW 7008 is a beautiful neutral. It is not too stark but also not too yellow. I love this colour because it is beautiful and looks creamy on the walls giving you a warm feeling. Alabaster was Sherwin Williams Colour of the Year for 2016.

Happy New Year

Bringing The Holiday Spirit To Your Guest Bedroom

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today I wanted to feature some oh so cozy guest bedrooms. With traditional Christmas colours and greenery these featured guest bedrooms are perfect for the holidays.

Sometimes adding just a simple Christmas potted plant or a few accents will do the trick. In the first photo the homeowner added items from Ikea and I love the simplicity of it. For high headboards I love the idea of a wreath placed in the centre. Take a look! Have a great day.

Budget Friendly Makeovers!

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Today I wanted to share with you some fantastic bathroom makeovers. The best part is that they are all budget friendly and look awesome!

Generally bathrooms that look bright, airy and clean can leave buyers smiling. Even a small bathroom can impress potential buyers with a few key updates.

In the past we have painted, changed light fixtures and updated vanities to quartz for a cleaner more contemporary vibe. Buyers love updated bathrooms!

Here are some bathroom makeovers that look beautiful and are budget friendly as well. Take a look!

Simply beautiful by Angela

Angela transformed this bathroom by only spending $510.00 dollars and took this bathroom from 1990’s to farmhouse chic! Peel and stick wood looking floors, paint, and Rust Oleum for the countertop helped her achieve this beautiful makeover.
