Here is a sneak preview of a full colour consult and staging project that is coming up! This property is going to look beautiful!
Choosing whites can be tricky at times. There are so many choices and most whites have undertones. The undertones in white paint can be warm, cool, natural, and there is also just pure white.
I prefer looking at whites in natural light and I always keep in mind the sun exposure. Southern exposure receives an abundance of light all day long. The paint chip can look brighter in a southern facing room. In a north facing room consider warm undertones to compensate for the lack of warmth from the sun. That being said, I prefer cool undertones and have used whites with gray undertones in northern facing rooms. It can look amazing too.
As well, when choosing a white paint colour consider the furniture, textiles and style you want to achieve. You do have to consider the room as a whole. If you are not sure of the undertones you can compare the paint chip to a white piece of paper. You should be able to see the undertone right away!
Here are a few of my favourite whites!
This is a crisp, clean, pure white very similar to Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.
Sherwin Williams Alabaster
This is a beautiful white. It is warm without being too yellow. The LRV is 82. It looks super bright especially with natural light.
Benjamin Moore Babys Breath
I love this colour. It does have a cooler undertone to it. I used it here in a room with northern exposure. The furniture, blue accents and warm textiles bring the room together. The ceiling was also painted Benjamin Moore Babys Breath.
Sherwin Williams Rhinestone is a beautiful colour. It is crisp and airy looking. It does have blue/gray undertones. With a lot of natural light it can look like a cool white.
With spring right around the corner, now is a good time to tackle some projects. This is also a perfect time to ensure there is no damage around the home as well. Here is a spring home checklist to help you along.
It is still freezing cold here in Ottawa, but clients are thinking about the spring market. It has been a steady month for staging consults. If you are thinking about selling, then I can certainly help. I offer walk throughs or full consults to help prepare your property for sale. Call me if you need help!
Toss pillows can add so much texture, warmth, colour and also add the final touch to a staging or design job. You can easily change-up toss pillows and completely change the vibe of a room. Here are some toss pillows to love right now!
Happy Valentines Day!
Each year paint companies like Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams release their colours. They spend months travelling and attending different design shows. Fashion, art, politics, cosmetics and Pinterest all influence paint trends. Below are some paint trends for 2019.
Have a wonderful day!
When it is this cold we sometimes spend a lot more time indoors, even if you love outdoor sports. Painted walls can be life changing. The colour or colours that you choose can help lower stress, improve mental health and help you to relax. With more time spent indoors, choosing paint colours is important.
We all have our own personal preferences when deciding on what paint colours to choose, but if you have a stressful job, coming home to bright red walls may not be the best choice. That doesn’t mean boring white walls either. Here are some popular paint colours and moods they evoke.
Light Blue-Such a popular colour and for good reason. The right shade of light blue can really help you feel calm and relaxed. Blue tones are also popular best sellers. It is a perfect colour for a bathroom or bedroom. Studies have shown that homes with light blue painted walls sell for more money.
Yellow-It is a cheery, a confident mood boosting colour, but studies have shown that babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms. The wrong tone of yellow though can cause fear and anxiety.
Green-Green can represent growth, freshness, nature and energy. I love working with green and there are many great shades that work well within a home.
Pink-Pink can be euphoric and refreshing. I like to choose lighter shades of pink for a kids room. Softer pinks look great in a guest bedroom as well.
Have a wonderful day!
If you live in a builder home or have basic walls but would like to add character to them, paneling may be just what you are looking for. It is not hard to do and adds instant style . It is also not that expensive to do as well.
Depending on the paneling you choose, it can look great in both contemporary and traditional homes. There is a look for every style.
Vertical paneling, board and batten, wainscot paneling, bead board paneling and modern paneling can definitely bring a room to life and not make it so cookie cutter basic.
For our bedroom Scott bought trim the same thickness as our baseboards and is installing it on the walls. We chose the width that seemed appropriate for the size of the room and length of the wall. You will need a chop saw, pneumatic nailer, caulking and of course paint.
Here are some photos for inspiration!
I have been very fortunate this year to have worked with amazing Real Estate Professionals, contractors, and of course, wonderful clients.
I am also very blessed with a loving family, supportive friends; Angela and Laura, and a host of others that make every day seem special.
So, to you and families, I thank you, and wish you a safe and happy holiday!
See you next year!
